Looking for info re: Samuel Slone, b. 1825 Harlan Co. KY. Married : 1.. Elizabeth Clark, b. 1830, Lee Co. VA 2.. Susan A. Young Marriage to Susan Young listed as 21 March 1865, Lee Co. VA. Marriage book II. Samuel Slone listed as son of Samuel and E. Slone. Bride: Susan A. Young. Age 23-W. b. Lee County, VA. Daughter of R. & R. Singleton. Married 21 March 1865 by W. Muncy. 1. Other records list Samuel as the son of Thomas Slone & Barthena Brock Slone. Could the clerk have entered info re: Samuel’s first marriage rather than his parents names? 2. Does the W after Susan Young’s name indicate she was a widow? Or white? 3.. If Susan was a widow, what was the name of her first husband? 4.. Or, was Susan’s mother widowed & later married to Mr. Singleton? Also, I have never seen the original record; only what was published in a book of Lee Co. marriages.
