Carol, Jane Ely, daughter of Thomas Ely & Jane Smith, b. 1763 in Stafford, VA, m. May 8, 1787 in Montgomery Co, Va. to Rene Napier, Son of Patrick Napier and Judith Burk. There is an excellent book on this Napier line, "Dr. Patrick Napier of Virginia and Related Families of...." by Vava Knepp (yes, I spelled her name right), 1988, Vaughn Printing, Santa Monica, California. If your library does not have it, they can probably get it by interlibrary loan. The Ely line is quite well done in "Early Settlers of Lee County". Your dates and places are not matching up well here, this Jane Ely died in Ohio. Let me know if any of this fits, if you need more, or if you need more digging for another Jane Ely married to a Napier. Tom Ely
BTW, I have a Jane Ely, b.@181-1823, shown as the daughter of Wm. Ely, Jr. Do not show her husband. Could she also be the wife of a Napier?
