I am having the same trouble. The marriage book (1845) says the woman is Jershua Riggs, but her own son's birth certification says Jershua Ridge. I tried to use the census to solve the problem, but it has only made things worse. In 1840 there is a Samuel Ridge. In 1850 there is a Samuel Riggs. Makes you wonder if they changed their names back and forth. Good luck on your problem.
