Hi Mary- I don't have Hobbs or Combs as direct ancestors, but I do have the James Combs-Nancy Hobbs marriage in my tree - just can't figure out how they're connected to my ancestors! And my information is for certain from someone else's tree on the internet. But I wanted to let you know, in case you don't have the info, that they had a son Fielding who apparently married Charity Chance (again, someone else's data).
