Hello All. My surname in Lee County is Gilliam I have a perplexing problem that has bothered my family for years. My Grandfather was Hascue George Gilliam b. 1883 in Lee County, Va. He married my grandmother sometime in the early 1920's in Lee County Ky (second marriage for both). He never spoke much at all to any of his family about his early years in Virginia. He ran away from home when he was about 15 (Would have been 7 in 1890, 17 in 1900 so the census is no real help) The only information that we know for certain is that he had a sister named Olie (my aunt was named for her) He may have had two brothers, John and Monroe. His father's name may have been William (Bill) and his mother was Rhoda. The family may have lived in Greenburg or Greensboro PA for a time. Olie was living in PA and married to a Sweragin? sometime in the late 1910's. As you can see, we do not have much to go on. Any ideas? I haven't taken the time to really do any research. My uncle Willard lived in Whitesburg Ky, and tried several time to look into this, but with little success. Any help would be greatly appreciated Jim
