Vanetta, James D. Blanton, born abt. 1773 prob. Lee Co. VA. died abt 1850 Harlan Co. KY, brother to my George, was first married to Margaret Trimm Carter. They were married 13 Apr. 1812 in Green Co. TN. He married second to Mary Rebecca Saylor on 11 May 1832 Kentucky. She was the d/o Solomon & Sarah Salyer Saylor. He can be found in the 1795 Lee Co. VA. Tax List and 1830 & 1840 Harlan Co. KY Census. James Blanton, born abt. 1816, some say Harlan County, KY. but Harlan Co. wasn't formed yet. I don't think it was formed until about 1819-1820 so I'm thinking he was born in Knox Co. KY. He married 22 Dec 1837 Harlan Co. KY. Sarah Davis, b.abt. 1820 Harlan Co. KY. James parents were William Blanton & Susannah Brock. William is also suppose to be a brother to my George. James & Sarah can be found in the 1850 Harlan Co. Census; # 7, HH#348. James is 34 and Sarah is 30. They can be found in the 1860 Harlan Co. Census; HH#846, James is 44 and Sarah is 38. There has been a lot of confusion between these two James. My 3rd grgrandfather was James Henry Blanton, b. 25 Jan 1820 prob. Scott Co. VA. d. 5 Aug 1905 Johnson Co. KY., s/o George & Martha Shepherd Blanton, m. 24 Sept 1940 Floyd Co. KY. (I have their marriage license) Mary Davis,b.8 July 1824 Fish Trap, Johnson Co. KY. d.7 Apr 1897 Johnson Co. KY., d/o Elias Davis & Elizabeth Betty Curtis. I have even seen my James birth and death date for James married to Sarah Davis. I have James Henry's Death Certificate and have been to his and Mary's graves several times.
