I have an Ely/Blanton connection: Dicey Rebecca Ely, born in Johnson Co. KY. d/o William Ely, Jr. born in Bedford Co. VA. m. to Mary Rebecca Saylor, born in Russell Co. VA., died in Magoffin Co. KY. William Ely Jr.'s parent were William & Mary Rawlins Ely, Sr. I don't know where they were from. Dicy Rebecca Ely married James Henderson Blanton, born in Monroe Co. TN. and died in Harlan Co. KY. s/o James D. Blanton, born in Lee Co. VA. & Margaret Trimm Carter, born in Green Co. TN. James died in Harlan Co. KY. and Margaret died possibly in Magoffin Co. KY. James D. Blanton would be a brother to my fourth great grandfather, George Blanton m. to Martha Shepherd. George and Martha can be found in Lee & Scott Co. VA.
