Hi: I am looking for the marriage record of a CHARLES BURTON who married a MARY WILLOWS or WILLIAMS somewhere between the years of 1830-46. As far as I know the marriage took place in LEE CO. I know one of the children's name was MARTHA J. (possibly Josephine) Burton. Also my great grandparents BOOTH BURTON and MARY ELIZABETH ROSE stole over the VA. border to marry in a place called MULBERRY GAP, TN. 2/11/ 1887. They were living in Lee County possibly Rose Hill, VA. Does anyone have an idea as to where Mulberry Gap, TN. is or was, and how I might get a copy of a marriage certificate. I have written to Hancock Co., TN. which is the county just over the border from Lee Co. but they had no record. Or maybe I was searching in the wrong place. Any help, ideas? From my research, Hancock County TN has had two fires: one in early 1880's thereabout and another around 1910 or thereabouts and not many records survive except for some land records.
