It sounds like I keep giving people advice, but if a group of you are going to do a joint indexing project you might want to investigate some of the indexing programs so you all have the same format. An indexing program can save a lot of time and effort over the old way that I call "manual indexing with a computer"! To do that I have had to type each name with the page number behind it, then start deleting the duplicate lines of the same name, and put all the page numbers for that person up behind that one name.
