Sheila, This is the Wells family I am referring to. The Zachariah you referred to who married Rebecca Shepard would have been my William Wells' uncle. The Zachariahs and Williams get really tricky in this family. My descendants are: 1-Zachariah Wells m. Abigail Osborne 2-William Wells m-Susan Ward 3-William S. Wells m. Mary (Mary Ann) Shepard. The only parent listed on the marr lic is Nancy Shepard. According to my records, Zachariah and Abigail Osborne Wells had the following Children: 1-William Wells m. Susan Ward 2-Thomas Wells m. Rebecca Blevins 3-Jeremiah Wells m. Elizabeth Culbertson 4-Robert Wells m. Elizabeth Shepard, dau of James Shepard 5-Zachariah Wells m. Rebecca Shepard 6-Elizabeth Wells m. Thomas Landers 7-Nancy Wells m. John O. Boggs 8-Jemima Wells m. John Sturgill 9-Abigail m. William Landers 10-Jacob Wells m. Johanna Shepard Of Zachariah and Abigail Osbornes children, my records indicate that William, Thomas, Jeremiah and Robert all had sons named William. Also, William, Thomas and Zachariah all had sons names Zachariah. As you can see, it gets really tricky trying to sort these people out. Also, the Shepard and Wells families intermarried a number of times. Therefore, I would have to assume the Mary Shepard who married William S. Wells was likely related to some of these other Shepards in some way. Judy
