Zahn, I agree with your assessment. I also think Ransom is related to Levi & Mary Eldridge but I don't think he is their son. I believe Ransom's parents returned to England when Ransom was very young. I think Ransom was raised by the Short family. 1. Do you have any information on Greenberry Short who was the son of William H. Short and "Miss Eldridge". 2. In your years of research in Lee Co., VA have you ever looked at court records that would concern a child like Ransom between 1835-1850 i.e., bond, indenturement, adoption, etc.? 3.
