Shirley: Line number four would be filled in as Tipton "Tip" Dillman & Alice Eldridge. Other than what you have there, I have not researched Uncle Bob's family in depth. Zahn was kind enough to fill me in on what I have so far, on the early line. Thomas R. Eldridge's wife's name looks like Miami on one census, and Minnie or Mimie on another, and I am not sure what her real name was. I believe I have a picture of them, with their Grandson Robert (Uncle Bob) and Aunt Allie Bolling Dillman. That is interesting that you mentioned the Shorts, since Allie Fair Bolling Dillman, was born and raised in Flat Gap, Wise County, VA, and there were as many Short families there as Bollings, and all intermarried. My 3X Great Grandparents were Jesse and Elizabeth Louisa Short Bolling. Shirley, I am a pretty good researcher, but Alice Eldridge Dillman, daughter of Thomas R. Eldridge and wife, had a son Robert who married into my Father's Mother's Bolling family. They are not my direct line. Allie Fair Bolling Dillman, was only a daughter-in-law to Alice Eldridge Dillman. Allie was my Great Aunt. I like to know about all my families, collateral also, and was just interested in knowing why Uncle Bob was in the home of his grandparents with his siblings. I wanted to know who his parents were, and found that on the census. I would love to be able to help you, but I really do not have any information at all on the older Eldridge families, I am only related through marriage, not by blood. Now if your William H. Short and Greenberry Short were from Flat Gap, Wise County, VA, I could probably help you there, since they could possibly be my blood relations, and could be found in my Bolling book. It has the entire genealogy of the Bolling and Short families in it. At least the Shorts who married into the Bollings, of which many did. There are some discrepancies, but for the most part, is correct on my direct line, at least. It does provide a "starting" place or clues to find real documentation. Other than that possible Short connection, I am sorry I can't help you with the Eldridge family back any further. If you think these Shorts were originally from Wise County, please let me know, and I will see if I can find anything on them for you.
