Wayne, There are still many elder folks living in Lee County and surrounding areas that worked in those mines. My father is 82 and he loves to tell the stories of the mines. He would probably tell a stranger the stories of accidents and such than to his family (as history goes .... a stranger can obtain more information than blood relative.)
