In her post to the KYHARLAN-L list dated 2 April 2005, Pat W. BALL has raised a very important issue about the name of the wife of George BALL, Sr., b. 1720 in Stafford County, VA, d. 1801 in Lee County, VA, son of John BALL and Winifred WILLIAMS. Her name has been shown as Keziah UNKNOWN, Keziah Ann HANSON, Keziah HANSON, and simply UNKNOWN. The book, "John Ball of Lee County, Virginia and His Descendants", by William Woodson Hoskins, 1975, p. 6, refers to George's wife as "wife killed by Indians" and does not show her name. In the new book, "The Ball Family of the Potomac: 1654-2004", by Doris LeClerc Ball and George L. Ball, 2004, p. 319, the authors state, "According to family tradition, the wife of George Ball was named Keziah. There is no documented evidence for this, but it follows enduring family oral tradition. Also, three of Keziah's children - Martha, John, and Moses - all named a daughter Keziah, and the name was used repeatedly by this branch of the family for at least the next 100 years." The authors also refer to the confusion with George BELL, who married Ann HANSON or HENSON 15 April 1745 in Overwharton Parish, Stafford County, VA. As can be seen below, at least three children are shown in the register for George and Ann BELL, and two others may be theirs. These are NOT the children of George BALL.. This of course is an undocumented submission but adds to the evidence presented above.
