    3. There is no rule that says you have to record your land. Many times it is purchased and they pass it along for generations before someone in the family decides to sell the home place. So, you never know how many years it could be from the first entry to the next. Or, if they got a grant, you don't have to record that either unless you want. It only needs to be recorded when you plan to get rid of the property forever. You get it recorded then. If you don't have a good title, there is a problem. You can also check the land tax records as they tell who bought or sold property. phil smith wrote: > > Elisha Smith and family are listed in the 1850 census as having real estate > valued at $1,000 also in the 1850 agriculture census shows he has land 23 acres > improved 86 unimproved > Question.....I can't seem to find the transaction of him acquiring this > land........is there anyone out there that may give me advice on this issue? > phil > > > ==== VALEE Mailing List ==== > To unsubscribe from the list send your message to <[email protected]> > for individual list messages; <[email protected]> for digest messages. > Then put the word unsubscribe in the subject line and send your message. > > ============================== > Search the US Census Collection.
