My mother has had a long running subscription to the Powell Valley News and recently she and I were in Lee County visiting my grandmother. While there, I did some research for some folks and one stop was the COOPER Cemetery near Stone Creek. We liked to never found it but find it we did (on top of a very steep, big hill.) There were some Cooper graves I was writing info on: Elsie Cooper born and died March 10, 1919 twin brother: Elzie Cooper born March 10, 1919 and died June 1, 1967 Back to the post. The mother of the twins celebrated her 117th birthday this past April 6, 2001. Her name is Ressie Stapleton Cooper Seymore born April 6, 1884. She is the daughter of Green and Cora (Sprinkle) Stapleton. Ressie first married Sherman Cooper and had 9 children: 1. Elzie Cooper (died in train accident) 2. Elsie Cooper (died at birth) 3. Andrew Cooper of St. Charles who has three sons and three daughters 4. Ida Rhoten of Indianapolis, IN who has three sons and one daughter 5. Sylvia Harrington of Bulls Gap, TN who has four sons and one daughter 6. Cora Bryant of Pennington Gap who has eight children 7. Bobbie Musick who had a child that died as an infant 8. Lily Scott of Pucketts Creek who has eight children 9. Estelle Dean (deceased) who had 5 children - 4 living and 1 son deceased She then later married Bascom Seymore (deceased).
