    3. Col. Eddie: Rootsweb should tell you all you need to know about Lee County research. Looks like Jonesville is the place to go (and it is home to the Carter Family of early country music fame): http://www.rootsweb.com/~valee/ That should get you there, but "Google" "lee county, va and rootsweb" if it does not. I'm writing a biography of Col. J.C. Woodward (son of Henry Woodard--note no "W" at that time) who grew up in Lee County, went to War (the Civil War), was captured at Champion Hill (east of Vicksburg), sent to CSA prison in Richmond, was paroled, etc. After the war he developed a large urban center in Lexington, KY (Woodward Heights, Lexington is not all that far from Lee County, VA incidentally), then sold that center (near the Rupp Arena for you basketball fans) and moved to the Knoxville, TN area where he developed early Fountain City, a suburb five miles north of Knoxville, to include a one acre lake, a five acre public park and a Hotel with 50 room--all that in 1890. My point is: I too need to visit Lee County soon. Please write us a couple of paragraphs on where you found genealogical materials, etc. Have a good trip, J.C.
