Working on the early Rogers families of Lee Co. associated with the name of Doswell Rogers. In the 1790's there were three men named Doswell listed on the tax lists before 1810 and the deed records from the 1790's to 1809. I believe them to be the following people: 1. The oldest known Doswell Rogers who was b. 1736 according to the Rogers family Bible had a wife in 1792. She was named Ann on the Wythe Co. deed records. It is believed that she died as she never appears to have signed away any dower rights in Lee Co. 2. Doswell Rogers married to Catherine. They are gone by 1810 and are listed in Bledsoe Co. TN on the reconstructed census. Do not know the relationship to the older Doswell. Sold property before leaving Lee Co. 3. Doswell Rogers married to Nancy. Believe him to be the son of the old Doswell b. 1736. He apparently is the Doswell that died in 1809 and is listed in the Rogers family Bible. I believe his widow is the Nancy enumerated in later years on the census records in Scott Co. After 1810 none of these men are on the tax records, deed records, or censuses . It can only be assumed that the old Doswell had sold all of his property to sons, etc. He last appears on the 1812 Lee Co. depostion that was taken in a land dispute. He is not on the 1820 Scott census where his land fell with the creation of Scott Co. I don't know what happened to Doswell and Catherine after they moved to TN.
