I have a copy of a post card of the great stone face with it's original nominclaiture. Although I find it personally offensive, "those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it." I don't think that we should forget how hard it was (is?) to be a person of color in the mountains of W. Va, Va, and Tenn. This prejudice was so acceptable that even the checks for the Bank of Pennington Gap had a picture of the stone face with the words " ______ Head Rock" written below until the 1970s. If you would like me to scan the postcard for you please respond to the address below. mjdailey@pen.k12.va.us
