    3. Does anyone have the book, "Thirty Thousand Immigrants in Pennsylvania"? I am looking for the passenger list for the ship "Crown" 30 th August 1749 and that of "Princess Augusta" 16 August 1736. I am told they are in this book. I am looking for Martin Thomas (Toomas) (Tooms)or Theodorus Thomas. I want to thank you in advance for your time. I had never heard of this book before yesterday and find it but sure can't afford it because it is $180. and up. I am sure it is worth it, but! Sincerely, Norma

    2. Sandra Seitz
    3. Hello, I am really confused. I have been trying to find my mothers family from the Tennessee area and I have been hitting brick walls due to a difference in last names. My grandmother at her death was listed as Laura Tennessee BARNARD but when she got married to Cornielious JOHNSON the marriage index lists her as Laurie BARNETT. I have a page from my moms family that says Laura's parents were Anse BARNARD and Martha Jane MULLENS. I found where and Anderson BARNARD and Martha Jane MULLINS were married in Hancock County TN in 1862. I am desperately trying to find who Anse and Martha were and why the difference between the BARNARD AND BARNETT. My grandmother Laura was born in 1887 in Clairborne county TN. If anyone out there can help please let me know. I am not sure if they are from the TN or VA area to start with. Thanks, Sandy Seitz

    3. Barbara, I have not placed FC or Mary J. Wyrick yet. I am still collecting data and working with a few other researchers to iron out the SW VA Wyricks. I did do a search on worldconnect.rootsweb.com for a David Mason Cole. It interested me because I have COLE and MASON in another part of my line. One researcher had a David Mason Cole that married Mary Jane QUESENBERRY. That David was listed as being born in ABT. 1826 in Albany, Clinton Co., KY. Several children were listed for the family. One researcher had this data listed, plus there were several children for the family. This researcher shows David Mason Cole and a descendant of Joseph COLE & Freelove MASON (who I am also researching when I can): ID: I04906 Name: David Mason COLE Sex: M Birth: 1825 in Clinton County, Kentucky Death: 1883 in Lee County, Virginia Father: David Mason COLE b: 9 Nov 1777 in Washington County, Virginia Mother: Unknown TALBERT Marriage 1 Mary Jane CUSENBERRY b: 1823 in Wythe County, Virginia Kathy in MN Chad & Barbara Frisby wrote: > Kathy and others, > > Do you have these Wyricks in your files? 3. I received some data a few weeks ago from a fellow WYRICK/WARICK/WEIRICH researcher and I'd love to make the acquaintance of any one else who is researching these names. I'd particularly like to verify the data I have (mostly from around Rosehill - probably) and be able to exchange descendant info with other researchers. If anyone has the 1850 Lee Co. census for any of the siblings in this family - I'd greatly appreciate the lookups. I do have most Wyrick families in the 1850 Lee Co. census (except Michael.) Martin Wyrick, Jr. 1787 - 1866 m. Barbary Moyers/Meyers 1787 - February 24, 1858 (burial location *probably* the Wyrick Cemetery near Rosehill.) children: Jemima Wyrick (b. 1808) m. bef. 1850 to John Grubb, Jr. (need census info) Elizabeth Wryick (b. 1809) m. bef. 1850 to Archibald Grubb (need census info) Mahalia Wyrick (b. 1811) m. bef. 1850 to Jasper Orney (they divorced bef. 1850?) Michael Wyrick (b. 1813) m. bef. 1850 Elizabeth Davidson (need census info) Lucinda Wyrick (b. 1815) no further data (with the family on 1850, lost after that) Joel Wyrick (b. 1816) m. bef. 1850 Anne Burk(e) (have further data) Wayman Wyrick (b. 1818) m. bef. 1850 Eliza Callihan (have further data) John George Wyrick (b. 1821) no further data at all Catherine Wyrick (b. 1823) m. bef. 1850 to Joseph R. Thomas (need census info) I believe that Mahalia (Wyrick) Orney and Jasper Orney divorced before 1850 because she is living with her parents on that census. There are a couple of children that must be hers as they are too young to be her mother's children (James and Catherine.) Any connections or help with these new surnames is greatly appreciated. Looking forward to having some new cousins. ;) Kathy in MN

    1. [VALEE-L] Hills and Hollers Website Update Notice
    2. Hello All: Lots has happened at Hills and Hollers since my last update notice. Please bear with me as I try to explain. First, I am honored to report that Hills and Hollers, My Mountain Home website has been selected by Appalachian Heritage as the first "Special Site Recognition Award" winner for 2000! I owe all the honors to the folks who have provided information for display and to those who have signed the Guest Register and left me many great ideas. Without you, the site is really boring! Second, I have purchased the domain name of <www.hillsandhollers.net> You can now enter that URL and it will automatically direct you to the website. The domain purchase was an effort to make remembering the site address much easier. Hope that helps, if you have bookmarks using the <http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~duncanrw> URL, they will continue to work. You might want to use the <http://www.hillsandhollers.net> URL and update the bookmark. Along with the purchase of the domain name, I have created a new email address for the site. <memorymaker@hillsandhollers.net> You can use it now! As always, my primary email of <navyump@aol.com> will work as well. Third, thanks to some more great contributors, I have added more files on families and more family photos, a cemetery transcription, an old photo of the Glamorgan School, and some more new links to other sites. I have a lot of photos to scan and add. I am working as fast as I can! Also, I am working on finding a search engine plug-in (without advertisements) to help researchers quickly "scan" the site. Since Rootsweb does not have CGI capabilities for the homepages server, I must use a commercially available search engine rather than creating one of my own. I am also searching for another site to store the material that will allow those programming capabilities. I am hoping that everyone out there will get inspired and start searching for material to add to the site. You'd be amazed at what you may have "hiding away" in your possession. My promise to you is that I will never claim ownership of any material you choose to display at Hills and Hollers. It gets posted on your command and will be removed on your command! I will continue to maintain the site as long as it is affordable. My hope is to try to preserve a little bit of our mountain heritage through the stories and pictures. Until next time, thanks for everything! Sincerely, Wayne Duncan Hills and Hollers Webmaster <http://www.hillsandhollers.net> or <http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~duncanrw> List Admin for: SWVA-NETN-SEKY-CHAT-L BIBLE-RECORDS-L MIGRATION-PATTERNS-L STATE-HISTORICAL-MARKERS-L
