Nini, I believe Wallen's Creek was near Blackwater in Lee County, VA. My ggg grandfather William McPherson owned a farm in Wallen's Creek in the mid 1800s. Since then the county lines have changed and that farm is now split by the Lee County/Scott County lines so I would check both counties for records. Could anyone do a 1860 or 1870 census look up for Wise and Lee Counties? I'm trying to find the children (esp. Elisha) of James Boggs and Phoebe Shepherd Boggs. I show that Elisha Boggs was born in 1859 in Lee County VA. If anyone is familiar with this BOGGS line, do you know if this Elisha Boggs married Elizabeth Causey? TIA, Melva
I would like to have info. on the Coleman Family, from the Early Settlers Book. Frank Corbin Morristown, Tenn.
Hi, I was led to this list by a fellow researcher in hopes of obtaining information on my Muncy/Muncey/Munsey Ancestors. As best as I can tell, they were mostly from the Powels Valley area of Lee County. My GGGGG Grandfather was a Samuel Muncey, born abt 1712 in NY. Samuel married Agnes Cravens in abt 1760 in Linville Creek, Augusta County, Virginia. Samuel & Agnes later moved to Powels Valley, Lee County Virgina & had the following children: William Muncy b abt 1761 John Muncy b abt 1762 Sarah Muncy b abt 1770 Hannah Muncy b abt 1771 Joshua Muncy b abt 1772 Peter Muncy b abt 1782 Frances Muncy b abt 1788 James Muncy b abt 1790 My GGGG Grandfather was the William Muncy listed above He was born about 1761 in either Lee or Augusta County, Virginia. William married a Susan Linn in 1783 in KY. If anyone has any information at all on any of the above listed Muncy Ancestors of mine, or any other Muncy's from Lee, Augusta or Montgomery Couny, I would greatly appreciate hearing from them John
Hi, I am not one of your Muncy researchers, however, I do know that you will probably find all that you might want in a book titled Early Settlers of Lee County, Virginia and Adjacent Counties Vol. II by Hattie Muncy Bales. Be sure to get Vol. II. This book is out of print, so try your library interloan.
