Thank you Margaret. That was the first virus I ever had since being on the internet. As soon as I was aware that my computer had been infected, I shut it down. I installed a new anti-virus program, deleted some files and hopefully the new program will do a better job than the old one I had. I hope everyone will clean their computer so this virus will stop. I was totally unaware that I had been infected and apologize to anyone I might have caused a problem. Take care. Glad you are "protected" now. As you suggested, the person who sent you the virus was (maybe even still is) blissfully unaware. Unfortunately, there are at least 4 other folks subscribed to the VA-Lee list who are STILL sending out infected messages (my virus protection software quarantined & deleted 4 infected messages in the past day). Folks, update your virus protection NOW!!!!! Remember to download the latest virus definitions regularly. My software (Norton 2002) does it automatically behind the scenes and then tells me the latest definitions have been downloaded, but I think with some of the software you must "tell" your program to check for new definitions & download. ----- Original Message ----- From: Cleland L. After 2 days and about $200.00, I now believe I have cleaned up my system. I will apologize to anyone I might have passed the virus (W32.Badtrans.B@mm) . I also would say to the lady who infected my computer that I am positive you were unaware of having the virus. I also want everyone to know that I DID NOT know that I had been infected. Hopefully the new virus protector I have installed will protect against any other attacks. Again, I am sorry for any problem that may have been caused inadvertently. Cleland @ cthorpe@bellsouth,net
I'm not sure it was a virus? I just went to my "Add/Remove" programs and removed the Microsoft Media Player 7 which is what was coming up each time that e-mail hi-lighted in my list. I then dumped it into the garbage and emptied the garbage. I don't think I have any harm done on my computer...? My virus protection software picked that up, too!!!! I had my software delete the message so quickly, I didn't even bother to notice who sent the message. Thank goodness I keep my virus definitions up-to-date. Please, please Listers, download the latest definitions for your software. . . . or, heaven forbid, if you don't have any virus protection software, run out to the store today and buy a package, install it, and download the latest virus definitions!!!!! I believe this latest virus was identified on the 24th, so your definitions need to be since then or you aren't protected. Thanks Dotty- Posting the will was a good thing -appreciate that. I knew that Alexander was named in the will-like others-the info was not right in front of me at the time. They say the memory is the first to go. Can they be right? If memory serves and it may not-according to the earlier census records of Lee Co Va. and the account of Esaw Wilkes Creech (son of Isaac and Mariah Penington Creech) there is not an open window for Elenor Lucas to be a dau of Elijah. However, we are doing genealogy and not mythology. By all means, lets keep an open mind. The Rev. Jay Dickey;s diary states that Elijah had 22 children-11 girls ad 11 boys. That is not absolute proof either. Quite a few mistakes have been proven by researchers in the diary. The middle wife of Elijah that has been mentioned but not proven-was named in Creech Lineage as Betsy Lucas (Sarah Elizabeth). A possible connection there could prove interesting. Thanks again Dottie-always appreciate your input. Hello, List. I'm looking for any information on Elisha Adams and his sons, William, Prior (Pryor), John C., and Elisha Jr. There were also at least three daughters, but I have never found any names. Chalkley's "Chronicles of the Scotch-Irish Settlement in Virginia," makes two references to Elisha in Lee Co around 1800. He was involved in legal transactions with John and James McKenny, who may have been his inlaws (he was married to Susan McKenny.) One Lee Co Deed Abstract shows that Elisha purchased 262 acres of land from John Fulkerson on May 15, 1809. The land was described as being part of a 400 acre grant located on "west side of Trading Creek, a branch of Powels River." Sometime between 1840 and 1850 he, along with John C. and Elisha Jr, moved to Whitley Co, KY, where he died on July 7, 1858 at the age of 92 years. William stayed in Lee Co, and Prior (my g/g/grandfather) moved to Claiborne Co, TN. There is some indication that Prior may have moved back to Lee Co after 1860. I would appreciate any information on these individuals, but would especially like to know about Elisha's origin: his date and place of birth, his parents' names and place of birth, etc. Elisha was my g/g/g/grandfather. I have always been told that my Adams line originally came from Scotland. They may, however, have come by way of Ireland. Wayne Adams

I'm a little confused.......I thought attachments could not be sent through the Rootsweb lists. Is the virus coming attached to emails or is the email itself simply a virus? Mary
Hi Kim, My name is Beth Bond. My mother is Joyce. And somehow her e-mail got a virus attached to it in our Outlook Express program. I have tried several things and we did have Norton anti- virus which did not pick up on it,. So I have decided that the best thing to do is four us not to use the infected Outlook Express program anymore. We are now using just the regular AT&T mail program. Should be no more viruses sent from any of us after that. As I understand it it particularly attaches itself to mails in the Outlook Express program so I figured if we did not use that progam anymore it would not go out at least until we can cure it in that program offline. Sorry fo rany trouble but we had no control over it. Please do not open ANY attachments from my mom's e-mail that you received. Thank you. God bless, Beth > JOYCE BONDS: > > You have a virus.
