2. Jim Snodgrass
3. There is an Exeter in Wise county, just outside Appalachia. It was an old Stonega Coke and Coal Company town and was close to Osake, Roda, Stonega, Derby which were all coal towns. There is an excellent book on this company and the early life of the coal towns inCOAL TOWNS and it includes drawings of the interiro of the houses and a description of support services like churches, store, schools, etc. I hope this is the same town you are looking for. jim

2. Can`t put my hands on an Atlas this p.m. I lived at Exeter when "very" young; a "long" time ago.(about 1945 and 1946. Didn`t think I was related to "anyone" there but now that I have gotten into my genealogy I see connections with several families of that area. S. Engle

2. Margaret L Sopp
3. Hello Everyone: Wondering if anyone has information on John WILLHITE. The Lee Co. Marriage Register indicates he married 21 Feb 1861 to Elizabeth SPRINKLE. John was 40 years old, the son of George & F. WILLHITE. Elizabeth was 18, the daughter of Malinda SPRINKLE. I have not found John or Elizabeth on the 1870 or 1880 censuses. Does anyone have any information? Margaret

2. Margaret L Sopp
3. Vanette and anyone else interested: Yes, Napoleon's daughter Margaret SPRINKLE married George CADLE on 05 Jun 1859, Claiborne Co., TN. Margaret & George were living with George's mother in Claiborne Co. (Tazewell P.O.) at the time of the 1860 census. By 1870, Margaret & George had moved over to Lee Co., where they still lived in 1880 (Rose Hill Twp.). I haven't been able to find them on the 1900 census. Their daughter, Sarah, married James JACKSON, and later moved from Rose Hill to Scott Co., IL; perhaps Margaret & George also moved west? Margaret SPRINKLE & George CADLE's children included: Sarah, Eliza (Louisa), James, Millie, Mary, William, Laura, John & Martha. If anyone has information on any of these folks, please let me know. I'm interested. Margaret

3. Hi Vanette: Thank you for posting the list of SPRINKLEs that you have. I can positively identify all but one of them. I've added their identification after the information you posted (see below). The one I can't identify is: > Margaret Sprinkle Abt. 1842 What else do you have about her? Could she be Napoleon's daughter Margaret Anne Sprinkle, b. c. 1841, who married George CADLE? Here's what Vanette posted plus added identification: > Name Birth date Death date Birth location > Charlie W. Sprinkle April 11, 1878 July 21, 1949 (s/o Robert Smith Sprinkle) > Clyde B. One of my fellow Sprinkle researchers was working with the CA Death Index and discovered an Alexander Ingle, b. 16 Feb 1866, VA. The death index includes the maiden names each individual's mother, and this man's mother's maiden name was Sprinkle. Is this the same Alexander? Was the Elizabeth who married this James Ingle a Sprinkle? Any help greatly appreciated. Margaret

1. Re: [VALEE-L] 1850 Census
2. Margaret Thank you so much. I have searched for 2 years for this family and someone from Clay Co KY emailed me today and said she thought she had seen a reference of them in Lee Co 1850. I have been trying to prove my gr gr grandfather to be their son and this census was the only one I was missing. After 1850 Joshua is married and of course prior to 1850 we know not all names of households are listed. Jemima Setzer married Joel Rice. Jemima is one of the oldest born to Henry and Sarah. Again if anyone needs a look up for 1850 KY or NC I have microfilm of those states. Kristie Setser Researching: BRADFIELD, HADLEY, GIBSON, PENNINGTON, ROUSE, LEWIS, SETSER, COOK, WRIGHT, BALLARD, CADWALADER, MURRAY, JAMERSON, SISK, ASHBY, SPRAWLS, SPROWL, DICKEN, FARR, STEWART, HUFF, ALLEN, PONDER and all various spellings. Welcome to GenTrails

Henry's wife would be listed as Sarah or Sally. Henry was born in NC, he would be about 56 years old. Thank You for your time. 3. I am not researching the surname Sprinkle but during my extraction of the Snider lines in Wythe and Smyth Cos. I found a Sprinkle female in the home of a William Snider. I don't know if this will help anyone but I thought I would pass it along just in case. 1860 Smyth Co. VA Federal Census Pg. 1015 HH 1006/1009 William Snider HH Narcipus P. Sprinkle, 15, F, b. VA I am researching the Johnston/Johnson line trying to locate the surname for my ggg-grandmother Rachel w/o J. Campbell Johnston, who may be a Snider. One of the grandchildren of Campbell and Rachel did marry a Sprinkle. There could be a connection between all these families which has not been uncovered to date. Hope this helps someone, Corinne

3. Hi there: Thank you for your response. I don't believe that Ira Sprinkle had a daughter named Sarah. Franklin Sprinkle did have a daughter named Sarah; she was b. 15 Nov 1862 and married David Hoover. The interesting thing is that this Sallie Sprinkle Ingle indicates on both the 1900 & 1910 census that she was born in KY and her father was born in VA, mother in KY. Here's the 1900 census entry again, plus the 1910, which I just found. I don't think Frank Gabriel is a brother, undoubtedly some other relative. There was a James Grabill who married a Mary Ingle 18 Dec 1868; Frank's probably connected to them. I THINK James Ingle may be the James who was the son of Andrew Ingle & wife Ann. Does anyone know? There seem to have been at least 3 contemporary James Ingles who married women named Sarah!!!! Wild.
