    2. Janet Zengel Messer
    3. Jeanne: According to what I have in my tree, Sylvanus was the son of James Robinson and Mary Rouse, both of Washington County, Virginia. I don't have anything on the Robinsons, but I believe Mary Rouse was the daughter of Jacob Rouse and Dorcas Cole. I can provide more details on these families if you'd like, but I must admit that everything that I have came off the web, so I can't verify any of it. Let me know if you'd like to see what I have. By the way, Dorcas Cole is thought to be a descendant of Stephen Hopkins, one of the original Mayflower passengers. You should be able to find something on the web about this family. 2. Ruth Hunt
    3. I am seeking information on Thomas and Sarah STAPLETON of Lee County. They signed a deed 20th April 1839 to William TILTEMAN(?), Spelling I am not sure of. Where did they go? Is this the STAPLETON in Meigs County, TN? They also received land for $1.00 from Thomas MOUCHON and wife Polly. It was 150 acres. Does this indicate that they are related? The Thomas and Polly were from Hawkins County, TN. Their name might have been MONEYHAN. The deed shows both spelling I would appreciate any information on Thomas and Sarah STAPLETON? Thanks for any help Ruth Hunt

    1. Re: [VALEE] Mulberry Gap
    2. I would love to have the pictures of Mulberry Gap. My mother's people lived most of their lives in Mulberry Valley, or Gap as it is being called here. There are two Coleman Cemeteries in the Valley. The older one is in bad shape, but it is still well worth the visit. My Great Uncle George Coleman who married a Lee County girl bought out the old home place of Thomas P Coleman from his brothers and sisters and donated a parcel of land for the Little Mulberry Baptist Church. He was the Minister there for a number of years. Mulberry Valley runs from Sneedville all the way to Lee County, and it is beautiful country. Wynona

    3. Mulberry Gap is west of Sneedville, Tenn in Hancock Co. You can get there on Newman Ridge Rd out of Sneedville or from Harrigate go north on State road 63. Not a very big place but does have a very old church and cemetery. It is only a few miles from Lee Co. Va and just a short distance from Claiborne Co. Tenn. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Margaret L Sopp" <mlsopp@ix.netcom.com> To: <VALEE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, June 03, 2002 2:27 AM Subject: Re: [VALEE] BURTON > Mary Ann & all: > > Mary Ann wrote: > >Does anyone have an idea as to where > >Mulberry Gap, TN. is or was > > It looks as if Mulberry Gap was in Hancock Co., TN and there was a > post office there for a while.
