Sampson Shepherd was a brother to Rebecca Shepherd. It is unsure of who her parents were. Some say Thomas but someone I know is proving that different. Her mother was Elizabeth but I have no last name for her and it's not Highsmith. It's believed she died in Lee Co. VA. Rebecca's other siblings were my 4th great grandmother Martha, James, William, Nimrod and Uriah. Thanks for the information on the Deed. I do have a son of Samson & Christina Mooney Shepherd named Johnn Mooney Shepherd who married Mary Polly Collier. John was born about 1798. He and Mary married about 1820. Most of my research for 20 years has been on the Blanton's but I do know they were connected to the Wells family. I have a Zachariah Wells married to Rebecca Shepherd, a sister to my fourth great grandmother Martha Shepherd. His son, John Wells b.c.1801 Big Stone Gap, Lee County, VA m. Elizabeth Gilley. My source was the gedcom of Claude Emerson Wells, 3809 Phillidelphia Rd. Maryland 21009-1107. I have no informtion on Elizabeth Gilley. Zacharia & Rebecca also had a son William b.c.1797 NC and married Susan Ward. I have a Jacob & Johanna Shepherd Wells. Johanna daughter of James & Rachel Gault Shepherd. From a very reliable source I have Jacob and wife Johanna were dismissed by letter from Three Forks Baptist Church at Big Stone Gap in July 1826. When estate of father, James Shepherd was settled in 1853 in Jackson Co. MO., she was a resident of Andrew Co. MO. Does anyone have the siblings of Jacob & Johanna? Thanks!!
