Seeking additional information on Aaron Roberts, allegedly the son of Shadrack Roberts & Eleanor Mayhew. He married a woman named Susan -- believed by some to be Susan Day. Does anyone have any proof of a marriage to Susan Day? Does anyone have a date & place of death for Aaron or Susan, or proof of his parentage? Aaron & Susan Roberts had 7 children, one of whom was my 3rd-great grandmother Catherine "Katie" Roberts (1833-1914), wife of James Bradley Ward of Lee County. Aaron & Susan removed to Morgan County, KY in what became later Hazle Green, Wolfe Co., KY sometime between 1850 & 1860. Katie Roberts Ward remained in Lee County. Their other children were Elisha B. Roberts (1825-c1870), Matilda Elizabeth Roberts (1828-aft1850) & md Robert J. Alexander, Aaron K. Roberts (1829-aft 1899) & md. Mima, James M. Roberts (1834-1919) md. Nancy S. Collier, Isom W. Roberts (1836-1921) md Cecelia Gum, and Andrew Roberts (1839-aft 1870). Any additional information about this Roberts line would be greatly appreciated.
This is not my Russell line & so I have not further explored it. My line of Russells came from Stanley Co., NC after the Civil War & married into the Castle family. Brenda Reed
Carol - I would like to exchange information with you. My wife is a Burgan descendant; the common ancestors between Ethel Orpha Burgan (who I believe was your husband's grandmother) are James Burgan and Mary McCarty. That would make Ethel Orpha and my wife 3rd cousins twice removed. We have extensive information on many of the descendants of James Burgan and Mary McCarty, but only limited information on the descendants of Ethyl Orpha's parents Charles Earl Burgan and Mary Alice Haynes. Please email me directly. I am interested in the names: WELLS SHEPARD I am really interesed in the parents of Mary Ann SHEPARD who married William WELLS in Lee County 3 Nov 1853. Her mother is listed as Nancy Shepard. No father is listed. Nancy Shepard apparently went on to marry a LIVINGSTON. I am interested in Nancy's maiden name and the name of Mary Ann's Shepard's father. Judy
Tom, what Green family are you researching? The Sprinkle family connects to the Greens in Lee Co. through Lucinda Sprinkle who married James Green, 22 Dec 1827 in Tazewell Co. However, the family was in Lee Co. by the time of the 1830 census. Lucinda Sprinkle & James Green had (from what I can figure. . .and I welcome corrections & additions) the following children: Cosby Green - married Gordon Johnson Boswell Green - married (1) Nancy Powell & (2) Sally Garrison Luthena Green - she may be the Luthena who married (1) Burdine Johnson & (2) James Fields Justine Green - married Job Poteet Henderson Green Morrison Green - married Molly Elizabeth Cox Some researchers have suggested that Morrison's mother was James Green's 2nd wife, whose name was Mary; but I believe that while Mary raised Morrison, Lucinda was his mother. Hi Wadene: The Sprinkle connection to the Laningham (Lanningham) family is through George William Laningham's marriage to Mary Catherine Sprinkle in 1874. I believe George's parents were Jackson Laningham & Margaret Louise Hinderliter, but what I have in my database on the Laningham's traces down from George William & Mary Catherine. The Sprinkle connection to Osborne is through George W. Sprinkle's marriage to Eliza C. Osborne in 1858. It is my understanding that Eliza's parents were Andrew Osborne & Margaret Hall. If you have information on descendants of George William Laningham or Eliza C. Osborne Sprinkle, I'd love to share & exchange. Brenda, do you have any info. on Isaac Newton Russell's military records other than that he was drafted in Virginia, served in Alabama, and died a POW at Camp Chase, Ohio? John & Rachel Hobbs Russell were my Gr Gr Grandparents, Isaac & Martha Gr Grandparents & Robert & Nervesta Russell Sprinkle my Grandparents. I know about Isaac because of what my Grandmother told me, but I can find nothing other than official (incorrect) records, and hoped you might possess info. from family journals. Thank you. Vesta Lou
