    3. Leatha: I had some luck with 2 of my ggg-grandmothers, each born ca. 1820, by ordering the death certificates of one of their children. In each case I had to order a siblings death certificate bacause I still have not found a death date for my direct ancestor. In one case, I had spent 6 years looking for the surname of one them. The VA Vital Records Dept. changed my $10 for a copy of my gg-grandaunt's death record. In the other case a member of the mailing list offered to look up and copy the record when she went to the capital. She charged me $3 but that was a MN death record. You may try that route. Good luck. 2. Bailey Francis
    3. Hi, Deborah, would it be possible for you to scan the diplomas and photograph and send them to me? I am only a distant cousin but would like to have electronic copies to share with Anita Brewer, formerly Anita Ball Pendergrass, who wrote the book on the KELLY family back in the 1970s. Also, Anita says that she thinks that this line is descended from John KELLY, b. abt. 1775 and Henrietta UNKNOWN, sometimes shown as Hanritter and other spellings. We'd be most interested in knowing the ancestors of your husband and James Bramble KELLY, as I don't have their names in my file and would like to connect them. I hope I'm not asking for too much. You were very kind to post the information. I had 2 years of Latin in high school but that was too long ago! I believe the college is William and Mary. Along with the diplomas is a picture of woman in a wedding gown, wonder if it is James Bramble Kelly's wife Carlos Jefferies. I would like to give these to someone more closely related than my husband, John Clarkston and James Bramble Kelly are 2nd cousins one removed. 3. You need to find the funeral home because they will have records. Also, look for obits in the newspaper and check the church where she went. Check the cemeteries given you in the other above records. If she belonged to any faternal organizations for women--Eastern Star, ect. They will have records. Never give up until you have researched ALL the possible records. 3. Chaille-- I did a quick search 1840 for Lee & Washington Cos. and found no Fletchers listed at all. A general search for the state came back w/ 6pgs. of Fletchers but no Barcenia or Lavinia. sorry. Maybe there is another name to look at? However, it happens that I am searching for Fletcher as well. My gg-gpa was George Fletcher. My gpa said that George came over to KY from VA or NC w/ his brother Arch. However, when I find George (1880 census only) it states he was born in KY. If you have come across either of these names pls. rsvp. thx!! mel >>> [email protected] 1/13/2005 11:09:28 AM >>> Hi All - If anyone has access to the 1840 census, I would love to know the names of any and all Fletchers living in the county at that time. I am still on the hunt for my Barcenia Lavinia Fletcher, born 1831 in nearby Washington County, but married in 1850 in Lee County. Her ancestry is one of the great unknowns in my family line. 1. need 1840 census for Fletcher
    2. Blais
    3. Hi All - If anyone has access to the 1840 census, I would love to know the names of any and all Fletchers living in the county at that time. I am still on the hunt for my Barcenia Lavinia Fletcher, born 1831 in nearby Washington County, but married in 1850 in Lee County. Her ancestry is one of the great unknowns in my family line. Thanks very much! Chaille in Vermont

    1. Found: James Bramble Kelly Diplomas, Unknown Picture
    2. Deborah Clarkston
    3. James Bramble Kelly, son of 2nd cousins Jonathan Edgar Kelly b. 1886 Seminary Lee Co VA and Geneva Kelly b. Feb 15, 1887 in Big Stone Gap, Wise Co VA. The high school diploma is from Big Stone Gap High School 1925. The college diploma is entirely in Latin. If I do not find anyone I will donate to Garnett Gilliam's Big Stone Gap school project. -Deborah Thompson Clarkston

    1. Re: [VALEE] 1850 Lee County agriculture schedules are up
    2. What do these Agriculture schedules show?Does it show names of families that lived there in the early to mid 1800's? And could someone please check marriage records for Russell,Scott and Lee Counties for a Margaret Conley marrying a John Walling son of Joseph Walling and Frances'Fanny'Tyree? There is a possibility they could have been married in any of these counties but also a possibility they married in either Ky or Tenn,as thier first child they had 'together' was bn abt 1836,her name was Rebecca,,any help would be greatly appreciated, there has surely got to be some kind of record out there that shows thier marriage and 'hopefully'her maiden name,, Thanks Leatha On Wed, 12 Jan 2005 16:22:55 -0800 "phil smith" <[email protected]> writes: > Thanks Carol....................it's great!! 1. Re: [VALEE] Births
    2. Does this partial list have the mother's maiden names on them? And is there maybe a list somewhere that has even earlier births on them?I'm at my last wits end here haha,,I have tried everything I know to find out what my GGGrandmother's maiden name was,,,and I can't!,,Any suggestions?I was told when she married John Walling s/o Joseph Walling and Frances' Fanny'Tyree bn in 1808 that when my GGGrandmother married him she was using the name Margaret Conley, she was possibly 2 yrs older than he making her born abt 1806,,but not sure where,,John Walling's family was from Scott County,Va,,however they lived in Tenn "possibly McMinn"for a few years after they married as their 1st Child together was born abt 1836 in Tenn, but by 1850 they were back in Scott Co.VA,,any suggestions on how to find out what my GGGrandmother's maiden name was?Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks Leatha On Wed, 12 Jan 2005 23:44:22 -0500 "Walton, Mark (MA)" <[email protected]> writes: > There is a partial listing.
