Does anyone have an address for the Lee Co Historical Society. Searched Google and did not come up with one. Thanks Carter
Goochland County is just west of the city of Richmond. It is the site of the women's state prison and various other correctional facilities. If one looks on a map today they will see that state route 6 and interstate 64 run through the county. I'm not sure of the boundaries of the county in colonial times. My parents have lived there for almost 30 years now. They live directly across from the courthouse. I might be able to help you find information. I try to make a trip there about every 60 days, normally on weekends. Perhaps I can arrange my next visit during the week and see what is required to get into the courthouse record vault. http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvhampsh/ The above address tells the sad story of Hampshire Co's records. However, Hampshire was previously a Virginia County, and before becoming a separate county, was part of Augusta CoVA. Depending on how far back are the early records you're looking for, you might find some help in Augusta CoVA. Carol, the service you have provided with the Agriculture Schedules for 1850 are invaluable. Thank you so much. I just now found the time to look at them. Has anyone else had trouble getting page 249 to load properly? I don't know if it scanned only part way or just what the problem is. I can only get to line number 8 on that page. Barbara
Looking for a cemetery look-up for Rhoda Green Provence who I was told was buried at Gibson Station. She was born about 1797 and died after 1884. She was married to Thomas Provence Jr. Any help or details greatly appreciated! Glenn Sheffield
