Valdres is the name of an old region of Norway West of Lillehammar. The parishes of N. and S. Aurdal, Etnedal, E. and W. Slidre and Vang now mark that region. One side of my father's family comes from this area mainly from the parishes of N. Aurdal and E. Slidre. The farm name Ton/Thon is also in the family back a ways. The Valdres Samband is an organization for those descendants and other interested parties for Valdres. Last year it had its 100 th Anniversary. There is a genealogist, Betty Rockswold who is just great, too.
