I have a question about a notation that appears after some farm names. Sometimes in the text, but usually in the list of children, it will have numbers after their spouses farms: sjå Austegardslie 12/14; sjå Bøen 11/17; sjå Fremredalen 37/5. I thought at first glance these numbers were reference to the different bnr.'s where these people were also mentioned. But there is no Austegardslie bnr. 12, for example. I looked back to John Føllesdal's but found no mention of this particular notation. Any ideas? Thanks! Star O
Hello These numbers are the norwegian notation BRUKSNUMMER / GARDSNUMMER. The first number is the Main farm number in the community and the second number is the subfarm number, as I use to call it. We still use this notation today in Norway.
