Hello Everyone! I am so grateful to all who read and respond to this board as I have found several new 3rd, 4th, or "umpteenth" cousins. I have been helped in many ways. Thank you. Wanda Melchert and I are now working on descendants of our g-grandparents, Guri Christendotter Melby and Knud Olson Roe Melby. I am forwarding the following message from Wanda to this board as she is also researching Guri's ancestors and siblings. We both would like to find out what happened to Marit Christensdotter Rogne, a sister to Guri; and to Guro Gubrandsdotter Melby who was their mother. I hope someone can help shed light on them: from Wanda: Searching for descendants of Marit Christensdotter Rogne/Melby, b. May 5, 1852, Rogne, Øystre Slidre, Valdres, Norway. Her parents were Christen Mikkelson Rogne b.1820 and Guro Gudbrandsdotter Melby b.1819. The 1865 census showed her living at the Røgnemarke farm #43/5 with parents. Her father died in 1866; her mother remarried Ola Flaten or Flataker, and left Rogne. Most of Marits siblings immigrated to America. Would also like to learn more about Guro with her second husband Ola Flaten/Flataker, where they lived, when Guro died, and where she was buried. Contact Wanda Melchert, P.O.
