3/22/00 To Owen Anderson, I do believe we are related also, through the Finhert name. My great grandmother was an Olson from the Finert farm near Bagn, Valdres. There were eight Olson children and six of them emigrated to America. They were Olaug, Ole, Mikkel, Olea (Olia?), Amund, and Sigrid. My great grandmother, Ingrid, and her sister, Barbro stayed in Norway. Barbro remained on the Finhert Farm until her death at age 69 on Dec. 19, 1895. Ingrid married my great grandfather and they farmed at Biribakken, also close to Bagn. Her husband was Ivar Johannesson. They had 8 children, two of whom emigrated to America. Johann (changed name to John Bang and lived in Grand Forks, N.D.) and Martin, my grandfather. He died in Minnesota in 1913. I have the complete genealogical record of the Finhert's and of the Johannesson's, both through the hard work of my second cousin's wife in Ringelia, Norway. Her name is Annlaug Islandsmoen and her husband is Arvid Islandsmoen. She is an outstanding historian and this has been her lifelong work/hobby. I would welcome any communication from anyone with connections to the Bagn area farms of Biribakken, Finhert, Trappop, Flugubraten, Linddelien or Nyvegen. The family ties spread out forever.
