    1. Re: [VALDRES-L] A History of the Bear Creek Community
    2. A big THANK YOU to Owen Anderson for scanning the History of Bear Creek Community. My grandmother, Emma Kobbervig, was born near Grand Meadow in 1879 and baptized in the Bear Creek Lutheran Church in January 1880. Her parents, Martin Oleson Kobbervig and Gunhild Maria Syversdotter Brager were married there 25 Nov 1875. Maria's parents were Syver Arneson Brager and Marit Lien. Shortly after Emma's baptism both families moved to Newman Grove, NE. Syver Brager served in the Civil War in the 46th Wisconsin and returned to Sylvester Township in Wisconsin in Sept of 1865. Sometime after that time he moved his family to MN. I would love to find out the why's, when's and the what for's of that move. Martin and Maria were first cousins, Syver Brager and Martin's mother, Marit Brager Kobbervig were brother and sister. Martin's parents stayed in Springdale Township, Dane Co, Wisconsin. Martin and Maria moved back to Wisconsin in about 1882 after a brief time in Newman Grove, NE. If anyone can shed any further light on my family I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you. Jo Kyle
