Star O The four bygdebooks of Sør-Aurdal is among the best I know re. genealogy. The author is a professional historian. To go further back in history, you have to go to difficult sources. The parish records of Aurdal starts in 1692. You have to be able to read Norwegian as it was written at the time, and you have to read it in the Gotic handwriting. And you have probably to visit Norway to find the sources. Think you should concentrate on other persons (as I have done who also have benefited from these books). But look at Norodd Bergene's home page! There you will find both your, mine, and his relatives. He has done a fantastic job!
