Hej....Hilsen Martha......I was informed that Lien means hill side so looks like you are on right track...My relatives were from a gard (farm) lien in Buskerud....there may also be a Lien farm(s) in Oppland. My relatives took the etternavn (added last name) Lien when they came to South Dakota, then changed it to Lee..... ........
