He was on Strand Moen when he married on 6-17-1859 to Beret Gulbrandsdtr. Sørstrand (born 11-6-1823). More can be found on each of the above. I'm the genealogist for the Valdres Samband Lag and I would like to help you find out more about your ancestors. See our website, mentioned below to find out more of what we are about. You would need to be a member of our lag in order to receive free help. Only charge would be for a chart I make out (just what I pay for them) photocopying for our files for future reference, and postage. Dues are $10 a year, payable by check made out to the Valdres Samband Lag and sent to our secretary, Diane Lerohl, 13400 Pepperwood Circle, Minnetonka, MN 55305. I didn't try (as yet) to find out anything more on the children. Waiting to hear from you. Med beste hilsen, Betty -- Betty Rockswold 1522 N. Greenwood Ct. I am trying to trace the family of my grandmother Anne Knutsdatter born 28 Sep 1895 in Fagernas,Valdres,Oppland,Norway the daughter of Knut Larson Strandeie and Berit Gundbrandsdatter. Anne married Knut Olsen Bakke 3 Oct 1906. I have many genreations going back on the Bakke line with many name changes but I have nothing on Anne's parents or brothers and sisters. Any help with this family would be greatfully appreciated. All records I have thus far obtained were from the Skrautval Parish and it may be that Anne was from another parish. Ruby
Dear Ruby, Where are you? I live in Iowa. I don't know too much about the Knuts sons. I wouldn't be surprised if we are related but I just don't have the time to do much with this right now. Good luck...Charlotte Welsher

At the time of her marriage 2 Oct 1893 (Nord Aurdal) her last name was Dovreseie. Her birth record was found as Sorstrand. Her father was Knut Larson Strandeie and mother Berit Grdbrandsdatter. She married Knut Olsen Fodnas. Knut's family goes several generations at Nord Audral, Fagernas. Their first child was Ragna Knutsdatter born 16 Apr 1895 as Tveteie, second was Knut Knutsen born 2 Sep 1897 as Ranunsmarken, third my father Olaf Knutsen born 14 Apr 1900 as Fjeldheim, forth Bendik Knutsen born 7 may 1902 as Fjeldheim (Bendik was a male nurse and died of an infection in his early 20's), and fifth was Berit Knutsdatter Fjeldheim born 19 Mar 1905 . I have the Christening records of all five children. The father Knut Olsen Bakke (Fodnas) died 9 Aug 1906. From this time on the family stayed on the Bakke farm. Anne never remarried. My father came to Canada in 1929 but the rest of the ! family to this day are still in Norway. His mother Anne died 27 Sep 1946. All records I have are from Fagernas, Valdres,Oppland in the parish of Skrutval, Nord-Aurdal. Any help anyone can give me in tracing my grandmothers family would be greatfully apprieciated. I would love to correspond with any living relatives. My father never keep in touch with his family and we have only found Berit and her children. Anyone that could give me clues in locating the children of Ragna or Knut. Ragna married Emil Kristiansen Nesbyen and they had the following children - Kolbjorn born 19 Dec 1916, Knut, Martea,Kjellaug,Borghild, Einar and Agnes. I have the marriage date in Skrautval for them and the chr. of Kolbjorn. I would love to have contact with them. I have a photo of them all with their parents but do not know when it was taken possible when the parents were in their late 70's or 80's. Knut married Anna Jensdatter Braten and was suppose to have had a big family but I have n! o names or other information on them. In 1974 Berit came to Canada with her daughter Randi but they seemed reluctent to give too much information. I have had not contact from them in some time. Thank you everyone for any help you can give me on this family. Ruby

Jo Ann, I noticed your grandmother was a Brager. On my mother's side, her Ggrandmother was Amborg Grov who was married in Norway to an Arne Brager. Arne died and Amborg remarried a Jorgen Olsen. Amborg had a number of children by Arne, one was Christafor Brager. The family passed through Mt Horeb on the way to Buffalo Co. Wisc. and Christafor remained in Mt Horeb. Christafor had a sister Inger who moved to Buffalo Co. later. I have some information on Christafor Brager from my family history, but with the passing of the older folks, we have lost touch. I am wondering if your Brager and my Brager lines connect? V/R Barry Barry N.
