I'd like someone in her husband's family to have these photos. The last name of the family is either Ragne or Rogne. Could anyone help me with this?

First, we do not know that these people are "still living in Fagernes" or any other place. Information about them are taken from "Norske Gardsbruk", Valdres volume, which was published in 1950. They could all have died in 1950 without altering the content of this book! 3. : I am told that there is a book called NORSKE GARDSBRUK : (Norweign Farms) edited in 1957 which has a volume for Valdres and that : referrence is given to Knut and family. I am going to try and see if I can : find a copy of this book but in the mean time thought it might be a clue. Title: Norske Gardsbruk, Oppland fylke I, Valdres Author: Lars Berg Publisher: Forlaget Norske Gardsbruk Published: 1950 Wilson library at the University of Minnesota has a copy of this book. The reason I know this is that I was looking for some information on South Aurdal farms (Dyven/Juve, Leistrudbakkin, Veglingsrud, Bratrud,...) and used it to make photo copies for myself. If you would have posted this before Wednesday, I could have made copies for you. As it is, I don't make it to the University very often anymore... If you live in the Twin Cities, I can give you directions (including within the library itself) to see the book yourself (you have to be a student or faculty member to take books out of the building). If you can't make it there yourself and you can't find the book anywhere else, let me know and the next time I'm at the UofMN, I'll try and make copies for you (it could be months away). Wilson library information on this book as well as for Norske Gardsbruks for Buskerud fylke and Hedmark fylke can be found at the following URL: http://r8.micro.umn.edu/LUM.RUN?SS1=Norske+Gardsbruk&ST=T&pb32007=Submit I also noticed while I was poking around there, that Wilson library had old address books for all of Oppland and I'm assuming other parts of Norway as well. The book I was looking at was from the 50's and included people's names, addresses,... If you're looking for someone around that time frame, it might be worth looking into. BTW, does anyone know where I might be able to buy the Norske Gardsbruk for Valdres? It's out of print and I've tried a couple of places in Oslo with no luck. Any ideas? I am not sure if this will help you with finding anything on the family of Emil and Ragna Nesbyen but just in case I thought I would let you know. Ragna's brother Knut who was two years younger owned the farm of FJELDHEIM in Nord Aurdal, Skrautval parish in Fagernas in 1950. I am told that there is a book called NORSKE GARDSBRUK (Norweign Farms) edited in 1957 which has a volume for Valdres and that referrence is given to Knut and family. I am going to try and see if I can find a copy of this book but in the mean time thought it might be a clue. I wish I could come to Norway and search for myself but health problems won't let me travel right now. I would give anything to find a living relative to communicate with and share information and family stories. Like I say I don't know if this helps or not but anything is worth a try. Thanks again for your willingness to try helping me in my search. Ruby

I have not go a lot of information to go on but any effort to help would be great. Ragna was my fathers oldest sister and all I have is a photo to go on. My father left Norway and immigrated to Canada in the early 1920's fleeing the counrty for having tried to start a union and was very bitter - never spoke much of family or the country so now I am trying to learn all I can about the family and hopfully a little of the countrys history. Any way the following is all I have. Ragna was born 16 Apr 1895 in Fagernas to Knut Olsen BAKKE and Anne Knudsdatter SORSTRAND. Sshe married Emil Kristiansen NESBYEN on 18 Jun 1916 in Fagernas. Emil was born 27 Apr 11891 in Fluberg, Sondre Land, Oppland to Kristian Evensen NORBEIE and Martea Toresdatter. That is all I have on his family. They had the following children who some of may still be living and also their children. Kolbjorn Emilsen NESBYEN was born 19 Dec 1916 in Fagernas, Valdres,Oppland and after that the only information is from the back of this photo I have. Judging by the photo I believe it may have been taken sometime around the 1960- 1970's but that is just a guess. In this photo are the other children and names only. They are Knut,Matea,Kjellaug,Borhild, Einar and Agnes. I do not have birthdates or even the proper order of these children. If I could find even one or two of them I am hoping I can learn more. I sent a copy of this photo to another cousin but all she was willing to tell me is yes this was dad's sister and her husband and children. Her mother dad's youngest sister lived in Oslo and has since died. She had the three children of who two of the write occasionally but neither is willing to share much personal family information or stories. I am hoping if I find some of the other brothers and sisters children I will find someone willing to share the family histories. Wether the family stayed in Fagernas or moved elsewhere after Kolbjorn was born in 1916 I have no idea. I know it is not much to go on but it is all I have. My father died in 1983. He had four siblings. Ragna the oldest born in 1895, Knut born 1897, then my father in 1900, then Bendik in 1903 and last Berit in 1905. Their father died in 1906 leaving their mother to raise the children alone. Berit had three children of who I do have contact but are very unwilling to share anything with us. Ragna as above. Knut married Anne Knutsdatter BRATEN and I am told also had a large family but of them I do not even have one name. Bendikwas a male nurse and I have been told never married but died in his early 20's after getting some kind of infection from a patient. This is the extent of what I know and like I said Iwould really be greatful for any attempts at helping. It is not much to go on and if nothing or noone is found I will understand. Just know I do appreciate any and all efforts. THANK YOU. RUBY
