Hei Star, Vol. A, page 161 says Amund Olson Nordre Roo, born 1716 married Dorte Knutsdtr. Killingbakke, see Øydgarden - then gives Amund's background. Page 182 gives Dorte Knutsdtr. Killingbakke, as marrying Amund Knutson Nordre Roo, but this time, Amund was born in 1729, with different parents. If you use the old Norwegian naming system, they should have had maybe two Ole's and two girls should have been Gunhild and Marit. They do have one Marit but no Gunhild. There's an Amund Olson Roo born 6-21-1716. I didn't find one in 1729. Dorte Knutsdtr. Killingbakke was born May 31, 1733. There are only a few errors I've found in the S. Aurdal bygdebøker. I think they're unusually well written. From here on, you're gues is as good as mine. I have run into some confusion in the Valdres bygdebok that I'm hoping someone can help me straighten out. On page 182 (søre Skinnrud), I find Amund Olson b 1729 marrying Dorte Knutsdotter Kilingbakke, "sjå Øydgarden". So I looked for Dorte in Øydgarden and found one on page 146, b 1733 - only marrying Amund Olson nørdre Roo, b 1716. This is the only Dorte Knutsdotter I could find marrying an Amund. I looked for them in the Marriages in Aurdal and couldn't find any of them, so I'm stuck. I don't know if I've got the right couple and there was just an error in birthdates, or if this is two different couples completely, or if I've just been staring at this book for so long I'm just not seeing the ones I need. Is there anyone with access to other records (church books or other) that could help me clarify this? Thanks so much. :) Star O

Dear Clarine, Are you familiar with THE CHARCOAL BURNER'S LEGEGACY, A Goplerud Family History by Sanford K. Fosholt? Library of Congress catalog card number is: 90-093208. In it I find seven references to Granum family members mostly from Nes in Aadalen. The earliest is Kari Knutsdatter Granum born in 1797. She married Peder Levorson Goplerud who owned the farm Volden near Ness. The most contemporary reference is to an in individual in the 1940's. Interested? Hi, Jim, Yes, the ones you mention are in my family tree also. My line from Niels Pedersen Granum (m. Joran Sorensdtr 1730) follows: Peder Nielson b. 1735 Niels Pederson, b. 1769 Jonas Nielson, b. 1805 If you would like the line back for Niels Pederson Granum and Joran Sorensdtr please contact me at my email. It is Jonas's first wife, Anne Olsdtr, that has me stumped however. Anyone have any info on her? Dear List: I knew I had links to the Valdres area but I was unable to find anything specific. After ten years of searching and asking questions, a family member found a baptismal document that she forgot she had. My great great grandfater was Ole OLSEN - born Feb. 23 1868. The Christening date is shown as March 1 1868. The place of birth is Ulnes, Nord Aurdal. Ole emigrated to the US in 1889. His parents are shown as Ole Olsen hippe and Ragnild Andersdatter. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I would go from here? I cannot seem to find them in the 1865 census but Ole and Ragnild might not of been married yet. Thanks
Thanks so much for the quick response to finding Ole Tollevson/Tollefson. We'll add the info to the webpage for sharing with the family. Thanks again. NancyP -- Nancy Petersen, Library Internet volunteer Vancouver, Washington, USA
