Hello, My great great grandmother was Anne Knudsdatter Hippe who was born August 28, 1826, in Ulnes. She had a twin sister named Sigrid. Anne died in 1909 in Vestre Slidre. Dear List Betty Rockswold did a fantastic chart and I am trying to fill in some of the blanks. I have an OLE OLSON HIPPE, born Sept. 28 1845 in Nord Aurdal. Are there records showing when people go in and out of a parish? If so, where would I find them? Betty could not find a death record for him so I am wondering if he emigrated. I have in my records, a Gullick Sundem, of North Aurdal, born in 1808 whose 2nd wife was a Ragne Hippe...married in around 1830-their first child was born in 1832. ..they had 11 children. thanks betty, believe it or not, I found berit ivarson ulen's father or grandfather, I think. I reread my copies of the death records in v.s. and found ivar pedarson ulen died at 103 on ulen in l723. Ulen is tiny and my ancestors were there at this time. An edict when out from Denmark in 1692, requesting that all prests in Norway write down in the church books, all births, baptisms, confirmations, marriages, deaths and other data. Some parishes took quite a while to instigate this procedure. These are the records we work with. It seems that the lower in status the people were (husmenn, renters, etc) the less was written about them. This is probably the information your already have: Iver Anfinson Koljordet was born about 1728, and died at age 76 on 11-7-1804 Anfin Jonson Ulen born ca. 1683, died age 65 on 1-1-1748 Beret Iversdtr. Ulen born ca. 1674 died age 72 on 9-18-1746. I found Ivar Anfinson Uhren was engaged to Thora Evensdtr. 7-12-1754. Wish I could be of more help.
