Hi Cousin Garth and all, It is possible to find specifically which church area each of the Vang parish farms are in by going to the Ole Rygh farm site: http://dina.uio.no/rygh_ng/rygh_form.html Under County enter "Kristians amt" and under municipality enter "Vang". Leave everything else blank and click on search. Dear List, am looking for more information on Sever Seversen (Olefson S.)/Ingeborg Olson (Emma) and there families. This is what I found so far: http://www.rhd.uit.no/ftsoek/ftsoek.asp?kommando=bosted&f taar=1865&spraak=engelsk_britisk&kommnr=0544&kretsnr=0007 &bostnr=0030&leilnr=000 I'm trying to go back as far as I can on this family in Norway . Any ideas ? I don't speak any Norwegian, so this probably will be a problem. I'm also very interested in the early church books in the early 1700's that are online.I think my relatives were probably Lutheran.Any information on this would be much appreciated. Sincerely, Becky S. Lindgren-Dyas beckyld@att.net
Hello I will try to help you. This is both old norwgian language and Valdres dialect at the same time, I think. Sore Lie - is probably the subfarm SORE (means "SOUTH") LIE to the MAIN Farm named Braaten. Neer Espelien - is probably Neer / Nedre which means the place located at th bottom of the slope or seen from a hill. This farm or subfarm is divided from the original Espelien . Hope this helps. This has probably been mentioned on the mailing list in the past, though I don't recall seeing it, so pardon the possible duplication. I happened to notice that there is now an Oppland message board on the genforum web site: http://genforum.genealogy.com/norway/oppland/ This is not too active, but it certainly is worth pointing it out to members of the mailing list. Hi, Betty and list... My ggggrandparents were Christopher Knudson Sore Lie b 13 Feb 1820 Gaarden Braaten, Sondre Lie, Valders. Married 1840 Valders to Kari Knudsdtr. Neer Espelien, b 22 Apr 1781 (I doubt that date is correct, but it is what my grandfather has written...) Daughter Carun Christophersdtr b 4 Oct 1847 in Valders. Emigrated to Minnesota in early to mid 1850's. Could you tell me what the "Sore Lie" and the "Neer Espelien" mean? I am assuming Gaarden Braaten is the farm name? Thanks a lot. Alexa Jones
Hei Alan, Gulbrand Eivindson Solbjør (1634-1723)'s father was Eivind Solbjør (vol. c, p. 302 of "Etnedal" by Harald Hvattum - be aware there are many errors in his books...) The page sayks he was the first known (in records I suppose) farmer on Solbjør, listed in the Manntal (like a census) in 1647. He's also in the 1664 census, listed as 65 years old. He died in 1696, listed as 116 years old! Another record the Valdres Samband Lag has says he was Eivind Gulbrandson Solbjør, 116 years old, dying 5-21-1696. He had 4 sons: gulbrand b. 1634 m. Barbro Bjørnsdtr. Sørflaten; Øystein b. 1644; Knud b. 1648 & Ola b. 1651. Same volume: Knud Arneson Lunde bought Lunde in 1687. Knud Arneson was born in1634 and d. in 1699. His wife was Anne Andersdtr (1644-1728). There is an Arne Olsun Lunde of Etnedal b. ca. 1604 who was the first known farmer on Lunde, and had a contract signe 3-29-1642. Arne was married to Marte Knudstr. from Vang in Valdrs. Their 3 children were Knud Lunde, Håver Jensvold and Sigrid m. Syver Breien. HI, I am looking for any info someone might have on Lars Mikkelson Spjutoy, born abt.1815 in Spjutoy Isle,Mads Fjord,Norway,he married Karen Andrea Hognesen RIISNES.I believe he died in Norway and his wife & kids came to America in 1860s I think. Can anyone help me find more about him?Evelyn ----- Original Message ----- From: <VALDRES-D-request@rootsweb.com> To: <VALDRES-D@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, April 27, 2001 10:01 AM Subject: VALDRES-D Digest V01 #23
Hi, hope somebody can help me out. I am looking for the parents of the wife and dates for daughter of Ole Torgeirson Veningstad. Ole Torgeirson Veningstad born 1752, baptism Volbu church 14 mai 1752 He married 14 june 1776 Ingeborg Eivindsdatter Høve. In the bygdebook Østre Slidre B it say "the daughter of Eivind Bendikson is married to Ole Torgeirson" I can not find this daughter (Ingeborg Eivindsdatter) born, should be 1754. I can not find Eivind Bendiksson, no marriage, no birth but I have a guess. In Tore Ey 768 it is mentioned: Bendix Olsen Skattebu (1673-1768) was married with Synnøv Eivindsdatter. They have 7 children mentioned but no Eivind, which I think is a bit strange as it is synnøv's dad. The oldest child mentioned is from 1730 Ingebiør, and the youngest 1747 a Ingebiør too. I think Synnøv was a lot younger as Bendix. I found Eivind Bendiksson dead at Haavie in januar 1776, he was 56 years old, which mean he has be born at 1720. As Bendiks is a older man when he gets all this children, (57) I asume that synnøv can be his second wife, and that Eivind has another mother, maybe one Ingebiør. Ole Torgeirsson and Ingeborg have a daughter Ingeborg who should be born in 1782 died 1840, I cant find her baptism either. Hope somebody knows, regards, Pia
