Moved from Isle of Wight County, VA to Wake County, NC sometime before the Revolutionary War, and fought in the Battle of King's Mountain in NC during the war. Married Elizabeth 'Betsy' Powell, daughter of Moses Powell and Prudence Garner, who also moved to NC from Isle of Wight County, VA. I believe John's father may have been named Robert, and that his mother's maiden name may have been Bailey ... but numerous attempts to find info on John Bailey Smith's parents and beyond have been fruitless ... hoping someone can help.
