Clerks of Isle of Wight County are James Baker, 1732-1754, and Richard Baker, 1754-1770. They lived in the town of Smithfield. Would appreciate any clues that would help identify the family lineage of these two Bakers. Elizabeth Baker
Hi Elizabeth, I'm researching Henry BAKER, b. 1632; d. 1712, IoW, VA. Henry's children were: (Col) HENRY, b. c1687; d. 1739, Chowan Co., NC; JAMES, b. 1689-1700; d. ? ; LAWRENCE; WILLIAM; MARY; SARAH; CATHERINE; and ELIZABETH BAKER, d. before 1734. I've been concentrating on Henry Baker (Jr), so I don't have any additional information on James Baker. I, too, would like to know whether Henry's son James was the Co. Clerk.
