By chance, I had a uncle by the name of James Samuel White b 1913 born in Alabama. Right now I have only my line of White's and fill in when someone writes me on a connection. In searching the area of Isle of Wight I have found at least two different sets of John White's there. One was a sea captain and the other worked in tobacco.
