Posted on: IsleofWight County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Va/IsleofWight/730 Surname: Hodsden ------------------------- Does anyone know where Hog Pen Point was in Isle of Wight County? The original deed was for "50 acres of high land and about 25 acres of marsh & known by the name of hogpen point, situated in Bracies Cr in IW" and "the land is bounded by the head of Bradshaws Swamp, the corner of Thos Harris' corn field, Hogpen point, the Horse gutt, including a slip of marsh joining to the Cr, the Horse gut to the main Cr, the Eagles nest point." This was property sold to my husband's ancestor, William Hodsden by John Clark in 1736. I am having a hard time finding the Hodsden homestead. Also, where was the home called "Freshett"?

You are cordially invited to a Stainback-Duke family reunion on Saturday, March 31, 2001, at the Epsom Country Club in Epsom, North Carolina. Epsom is located in Vance County, North Carolina, between Henderson and Louisburg. Vance County is where the old Stainback home place and cemetery are located. Vance was subdivided in 1881 from Granville, Franklin and Warren Counties, all of which have lots of Stainbacks and Dukes, who intermarried not only with each other, but with many of the surnames originating in North Carolina. If your family has people from this part of North Carolina or nearby southern Virginia, you're probably related! Everyone interested in genealogy is invited. The organizer of the reunion is: Joyce Duke Email: joyceduke@webtv.net Tel: 252-492-9205 Detailed information on the reunion and suggested hotel is at our web site: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~stainbackduke/ You can join our reunion email list to receive updates on the reunion and share your questions and suggestions.
