I have been unable to go back any further than Thomas. I did go looking for an old Adams Cemetary in Isle of Wight dating from the 1700's but was unable to find it. I had found some old information on the internet that stated it was located "by the old Gwaltney farm." One or two of the headstones were supposed to be marked and the others unmarked. I asked some local people but apparently the Gwaltney's lived in several places in the area and no one could remember a cemetary. The information I saw said it was small and could have been plowed under or...?

Are you or anyone out there doing anything re: Cemeteries in Battery Park, VA? I plan to go there early this fall, but plans are not definite at this time. I don't know how many cemeteries there are in B.P. but think one is called/named Battery Park Cemetery. That is the one I plan to concentrate on. I have never done this before, so am sure it will not be very professional to start. I will try to take pictures of as many tombstones as possible, beginning with my ancestors, Crawley/Crowley, Wise, Wyatt and those by marriage. Thanks, Judy

My husband was ordering some items for me from Ancestry.com today. The representative asked for my user name and password for "more of a discount". I couldnt believe it but he gave it to her. I REALLY think that some of Ancestry's representatives methods are dishonest and deceptive and they need to be monitored. Since WHEN do they need my password to give me more of a discount? Be very careful listers. Somethings WRONG when someone asks for your password to verify your a member. Shalori

Perhaps together we can then even learn more. I am John Primm Jacoby. My mother was Ruth Phelps Primm. Her father was Ernest Primm, his father was Theophilus Primm, his father was Enoch Primm, his father was the second John Primm, and his father was the first John Primm, whom we have been corresponding about. I have quite a bit of information about all of these people, including spouses, children, etc. My mother did research on John Primm and actually was enrolled in the Daughters of the American Revolution (as others have been as well) because of his Revolutationary War Service. I am not aware of any Huegenot background but I would be very interested in this. I would also be very interested in getting more specific information about ancestors prior to John Primm. My mother has some information (that his father was also John Primm of England married to Elizabeth Welch of England, both of whom died in Virginia) and that John Primm of England's father was Abraham de la Pryme. I am uncertain of the accuracy of the latter information. Please send along what you know, and whether you need any details regarding the above.

Your John Primm sounds very much like my ancestor, who fought in the Revolutionary War, was present at Yorktown, and who came to St. Claire County thereafter. However, our records show that he married Elizabeth Hansbrough. I would be interested in any information you may have. Perhaps we are talking about the same person.

Does anyone have information on a Robert Edwards married to Nanny Philips around 1860-80. They were possibly in Davies County Kentucky or the imediate area.
Is this the same Gray Carroll who was a doctor in Isle of Wight County? I have found two Gray Carrolls in the 1840 Census, one of whom was married to a Winnifred Jones. He and Winnifred had two sons and one daughter that I know of: Algernon, born abt 1827, Nancy born abt 1829, and Richard Emmett, born 1832. Richard is my gggrandfather. I have just started researching this line. Any help would be appreciated.
Lewis, I would love to see what ever you have on these surnames. I will get back to you tomarrow whe I have more free time to e-mail you what I have. I may not have anything on Nancy, I have to check. Thanks so much for your response. If you want you can e-mail me directly at brentandlc@msn.com. I will e-mail you directly if you wish. Thanks again for your time and effort. Take care!
I have a lot of information about these Isle of Wight families. The Hardy's go back to about 1450 in my files. You may want to look at a new book current in print "Our Father's Fields -- A Southern Story". It has a lot of data on Hardy's, Virginia, N.C., S. C. and Georgia Hardys--they are all linked. It is amazing to me. Most of my ancestors got to Isle of Wight in the 1600's and have been there ever since. I have been looking for the parents of Nancy Wilson b. 12-18-1842 and died 2-18-1906 in Franklin, Va. Info would be appreciated. I will be happy to help others on other things.. destinlew@aol.com
Does anyone have any information on Everett Gay, who was in Orange County in the early 1800's with three children, Sally, Eliza A. and William E. Gay. He was living with William E. Gay in the 1850 Orange Co. census. I have heard that his father may have been named Thomas and came to Nansemond County around 1750. I have found Everett Gay in Isle of Wight at the same time that This Everett was in Orange. There may be a relation- ship, and I would like any information I can get.
