    1. [VAIL] Bertie COUNTY NC COURT - Inquest - Death of Mildred Smithwick
    2. Robert Vail
    3. BlankOK all of you Vail researchers. The following is a inquest into the death a person that took place during the Reign of King George, so we know that was sometime before 1776. What's interesting about this is that Edward Vail was the foreman of the inquest. As we all may or may not know, The North Carolina branch of the Vail family has had some difficulty in determining with certainty what branch of the Vail family they descend from and who specifically started the North Carolina branch. Most speculation is that the NC branch come from the Jeremiah Vail side. It is my belief that no one has yet to determine who the individual was. The following inquest places Edward Vail in Bertie County, NC on a specific date. As they didn't use the current calendar, one must determine the dates of Reign for King George.
