Nancy: I am Bernard Bland and I was born in Richmond, VA just across the street from Hollywood Cemetery which borders on Oregon Hill. My father and his siblings were all born and raised there, I wasn't, but I visited my grandmother there many times when I was very young. The name was Grotz. He was called "Johnny". Did you know any Grotzes there? Cliff, Hinton, Alfred, John (my father), and sisters Frances and Henrietta. His mother died in 1955, she lived on S. Laurel Street, she was the last of the family to live there. They might be a bit before your time, they were all born in the 19-teens.
