    1. Re: [VAHENRIC] Vital Statistics Indexes - Online?
    2. Hi Steve, No, the state of Virginia vital statistics indexes are not online. The only places they are is at the state office of vital records at the Willow Lawn Shopping Center and the Library of Virginia on microfilms. The state of Virginia did not keep any records of births or deaths until 1853, from 1853-1896 they kept records orf births and deaths on register pages, the old births are indexed the old deaths have been in the process of being indexed for the library for years but only a handful have been completed just 15 counties. >From 1897-Juen 13, 1912 the state kept no records of births or deaths themselves. A few counties and cities kept some of their own for some of thos eyears. Then on June 14, 1912 Virginia started the death and birth certificates which carry on to this day. The library of Virginia has the old death and birth records on films. They have the death certificates from June 14, 1912-Dec. 31, 1939 on films as well as the death certificate indexes from 1912-1954. The library does not have any birth certificates from 1912 to today. 3. The Library of Virginia has Henrico county records at this link: http://www.lva.lib.va.us/whatwehave/local/local_rec/county_city/henrico.htm You will see that there are a few early vital records (1853-1870) that you can get through inter-library loan. These are records which were kept at the county level and not the state vital statistics. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition.
