Bernie, Do you know if there is a list somewhere of the names of the settlers who were massacred? Regarding Napiers, Woodsons, Tuckers; my children descend from this group on their father's side. He has a second cousin with a very fine website with a lot of information, some wills, etc. It covers Fitzpatricks, Perrins, Royals, etc. also. The JRL is: _http://www.jcsisle.com/index.html_ (http://www.jcsisle.com/index.html) Best Regards, Janet Hunter
I know there is a list from the 1622 massacre, but I haven't run across one from the 1644 massacre (that doesn't mean there wasn't one). The 1644 massacre went all the way up into Maryland, I believe around 800 people total were killed. Nancy ------- I was never lost, but I was bewildered once for three days. --Daniel Boone On Nov 16, 2006, at 7:07 AM, janethunter703@aol.com wrote: > > In a message dated 11/15/2006 11:30:44 P.M. Could you give us the URL for the 1622 list? Thanks. I'll have to look it up later but in the meantime you could do a Google. It's very sad to read, names, sexes, ages, and at what 'plantation' they were killed, but then you have to remember that the local natives could have drawn up similar lists for their own dead. John Rolfe, widower of Pocahontas, died in 1622 but he is not shown on the list; did he die of disease, was he wounded and died from his wounds or a resulting infection? Luckily he had left their little boy in England to be educated. The settlement of Henricus was wiped out by the 1622 massacre, as were many others.
