Robertson was born in Augusta County, VA - date unknown. He married Nancy Winter Hanger February 6, 1851. She was born April 27, 1825, in Augusta County. Family tradition says at the outbreak of the Civil War he was commissioned an officer in a Virginia regiment and rose to a colonelcy before the war's end. Later Nancy and he moved to Richmond, where he practiced law. Nancy died in Richmond, November 14, 1905. I am attempting to verify Alexander's military service. I do not know when he died, or where they are buried. I live in Indiana and would appreciate some help.
